I would give this 3.5 stars if I could, but erring on the side of higher.
Bought shelter my (secured) dogs while they’re in the truck bed on a long road trip, with the intention to continue to use it for camping. The good news is that it worked great for that. But it’s not without faults.
The window connections are a huge pain. Make sure you’re putting them on during a warm day the first time otherwise you will STRUGGLE. It’s fine after it’s stretched a little. The little hook/velcro top connection thing also comes off **constantly** if you’re regularly driving above 30mph. It’s very securely zippered on the side so ultimately not a huge deal, but it is a bit irritating if you’re trying to keep the topper closed completely. I’m not sure why they couldn’t have just made it zippers all the way around?
The side rails also tend to slowly slide around especially with strong crosswinds, so check them every once in a while to make sure they’re still secure.
Overall, it does it’s job. Folds up pretty conveniently when you’re not using it. I have no real strong complaints, it survived ~4000miles just fine, but it’s not perfect.
For anyone looking at reviews to try to see if it’s okay for dogs; I tested it out myself up to 70-80mph before putting the dogs back there and even with all windows off there’s pretty manageable wind noise, especially if they lay down the whole time (mine do). I drove them with just the back window off and it was enough ventilation but I haven’t used it during the hot season so I would recommend a wireless thermometer if that’s something you’re looking to do.
