AMP Research 75322-01A Bedstep Retractable Bumper Step for 2019-2020 Ram 1500, Black

Had one on my 2013 Silverado 7 years and loved it. Solid and looked factory. However the fit on my 2021 Ram is not nearly as good. Barely noticeable while up on Silverado, but too noticeable (gap) on my Ram. A shame, since very good product overall.
Another grip, install directions remain very poor as well, just a few b/w drawn pictures.

Very well made step. Unfortunately, the instructions -- which you need to access online via a QR code -- are total garbage. Three recommendations for the install:

- Use thread locker on all the bolts.
- Loosen the tailpipe (13mm bolt) and rotate it out of the way before you mount the bracket to the truck.
- Carefully pre-thread the screws that go into the plastic step. (Mine weren't, and I couldn't understand why the screws wouldn't go in.)

And AMP, if you are reading this ... do this install yourself, note the frustrations, and then UPDATE YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ACCORDINGLY!

Bought this step for my 2020 ram 1500 rebel, it was easy to install but seems like its only good for driver side installation, would be nice to have it as universal fit for either side. Other than that it feels strong enough.

I thought it was very easy to install. Everything fit and was lined up correctly.
I think it looks great when installed and had a good build quality. I did need to put some 3 in 1 oil on a couple of bolts in the kit.

The only issue I have is that the picture of the step as advertised looks wider than what it is.

Seems pricey for what it is IMO, but cheaper than the MOPAR version. The engineering and cutouts are not great - you'll barely have room to get your sockets and extensions in there in some cases, but it's doable - see attached photo. Lots of reviewers complaining about the instructions. While they aren't great, they were certainly adequate for me and I think those reviewers are exaggerating. They asked me to rate Sheerness and I don't even know what that means so I gave it 5 stars, fyi. Yes, once you remove the stock nuts from your bumper and slide the unit over those bolts, you will no longer have the clearance needed to get the nuts back on - see the attached photo. However, a pair of metal calipers will fix this for you no problem. The smaller the calipers the better because there won't be much room to work with. I used a Kobalt digital 1/2 torque wrench and tightened to the recommended lbs - I suggest you do the same. Total install took about 30 - 45 minutes. Feels very, very sturdy and functions as intended. Would recommend - especially to someone who gets in and out of the bed often.
